Welcome to my web site! This is the web page for Todd Clemmons. I hope to tell you a little about myself on this page through an introduction to myself as well as through the additional interests, photo album and favorite links pages. I was born in Dayton, Ohio and grew up and lived in Brookville, Ohio. I've lived in Brookville all of my life except for a short time in Dayton and the various places that I was stationed when I was in the U.S. Army. I am a 1982 graduate of Brookville High School in Brookville, home of the Blue Devils. I had a blast at Brookville and truely value the education that I received there. I participated in football, wrestling and track and was a member of the Art Club, French Club, Scholarship Team and the Varsity B club. Shortly after high school, I joined the US Army and spent most of my time in Germany serving as an infantry soldier. I was stationed in Mannheim Germany and lived in Coleman barracks. My job in the Army as an infrantry soldier was to be a TOW gunner. A TOW gun is the modern day bazooka and when I was in the Army, these guns were mounted as part of an armor personnel carrier. Today they are on the Bradleys and all infantry soldiers know how to use them. I was also qualified with the 81mm mortar. Both the TOW and mortar qualifications were considered specialty jobs within the infranty. We were still in the middle of the Cold War when I was stationed in Germany. We were greatly outnumbered on the field and TOW gunners were help slow or stop the onslaught of tanks that the Russians had in the East Block. These days the number of American soldiers in Germany are much lower and many of the bases have been closed. Coleman barracks is still occupied by American soldiers. Perhaps because the military prision is there on the back side of the barracks. Many of the bases have been set up for refugee housing. I graduated from Sinclair Community College in 1988. I took the university parallel path and transferred to the University of Dayton and received my Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. I first started attending Sinclair right after high school. I took 3 quarters and got tired of working and going to school full time. I decided to go into the Army in order to help fund my school activities. I spent 2 years active duty in the Army and returned to Sinclair and attended on the GI Bill. I am the only person that I know that actually went back to college and used my GI Bill. Most just cashed in for their contributions and simply went to work. I was an active member of Student Goverment and Phi Theta Kappa. I served as Vice President of both organizations. I like Sinclair. I participated in the Alumni Association for a short period of time. I did not become a formal member. I did not have the time to dedicate to the organization. I do find interesting classes to attend from time to time, depending on my personal circumstances at the time. Foreign languages and cultures is one of my passions. I took all of the French and Japanese classes that they had available. More recently, I have been updating my software skill set by taking CIS classes. I had a little deja vu while attending the last class. I had to go into one of the computer labs that I hadn't been in for years and recognized the lab. The last time that I had been in the lab was about 17 years earlier. The lab was full of PCs and much more moderized. The lab was much more primitive when I had used it before to type up my programs on keypunch cards. :-)
I attended the University of Dayton and graduated with a bachelor degree in Computer Science in 1990. I was a member of the Association of Computing Machinery. I think that we were the smallest organization on campus at the time with 6 members. We were all nerds. I was also involved in Golden Key National Honor Society. UD has been evolving and I really enjoyed studying there. Most of my classes were pure Computer Science because I had taken just about everything else at Sinclair.
I work at LEXIS-NEXIS. I started working at LEXIS-NEXIS in 1998 as an intern from Sinclair. I stayed on part-time until I graduated from UD in 1990 and then have worked full-time ever since. I work as a Software Engineer and I am currently a Technical Lead in our Nexis Offshore Alliance department. I work with Software Engineering teams from India, the Caribbean , and the Philippines. I enjoy the mix of cultures and challenges of working at LEXIS-NEXIS. Sign my guestbook and say hello Feel free to contact me at [email protected]. This page was last updated on 03/07/00. |
